EXPERIENCE
As the President of Ronald A. Roberts Associates, Mr. Roberts offers over thirty years experience in structural/civil engineering. Structural projects have included building designs with steel, concrete, masonry and timber. Project locations include hurricane designs in Florida, seismic designs in California, and snow designs in the northern states. His background also provides experience in designs for numerous civil structures including bridges, retaining walls, concrete dams, treatment facility structures and airport terminals
Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Roberts served as Vice President and Chief Structural/Civil Engineer for SmithDuncan Associates, Inc. In this position he was responsible for production management of all engineering disciplines, as well as the project management, and production of plans, specifications and construction administration for all structural and civil projects.
Before joining SmithDuncan Associates, he was employed as a design engineer with Datum Structures, Inc. of Dallas, Texas. His design responsibilities with this firm included the expansion of a composite continuous railroad overpass, rating of highway bridges for The Texas Highway Department, and wind-frame analysis for several mid-rise office buildings. He is a certified bridge inspector under the BRINSAP Program.
Mr. Roberts started his career working for URS/Forrest and Cotton, Inc. in Dallas. While with this firm, he was responsible for the structural designs of railroad and highway bridges, retaining walls, concrete dams and treatment facility structures, and an airport terminal.
Mr. Roberts, during college, served as an engineering technician with the Corps of Engineers in Galveston, Texas and McClelland Engineers in Houston, Texas as part of the co-operative education program at Texas A&M University.
